Oda Foundation Transparency

"We choose to serve here so that we can make each and every life matter.
Despite setbacks and difficulties, we have benchmarks for this community in education, health, access to development infrastructure, equity, and dignity. Through equipping local communities and supporting local public infrastructure, we advocate for and work towards the achievement of these benchmarks."

ODA FOUNDATION'S APPROACH TO FINANCIAL SUSTAINABILITY

We are registered as an NGO both in the United States and in Nepal. This allows us to receive direct government funding and to build greater relationships in Nepal. For Oda Foundation, financial sustainability means:

1) Our budget will increasingly rely on in-country entrepreneurial business, grants from the Nepali government, and grants from in-country organizations.

2) We hope to decrease reliance on funds from the United States - but for now, states-side assistance is critical to our mission.

WHAT ARE SOME COSTS? HOW FAR DOES MY DONATION REALLY GO?

1) Each year, for a staff of 32, we pay roughly $80,000 USD in salaries. This is roughly a little under half of our yearly costs. A monthly teacher's salary in Nepal is $150; a monthly medical assistant salary is $180!

2) A week of food, at three meals a day, for our entire staff is $250.

3) At our clinic, medicine for an average of 240 patients each month costs $380/week, or $1520/month.

4) Total care per patient (including medicine, labor and facilities) is $2.50.

5) We budget $145 each month for medical contingencies (emergency costs that a family would be unable to cover). Costs range from 2,000 (approx. $20 USD) rupees for transportation costs, to 30,000 rupees ($300 USD) for bigger procedures.

6) A skills and management training for 8 teachers costs roughly $150.

7) $540 paid for 1,000 kg of rice to sustain 80 households through the pandemic.
