Intern At Oda

We offer unique internship opportunities to help you jumpstart your career. Our internships are designed to provide students and recent graduates with practical experience in international development. The ODA Foundation is a non-profit organization that works to improve the lives of those in disadvantaged communities of the Kalikot District in Nepal through sustainable development initiatives. As an intern with us, you will have the opportunity to work on meaningful projects, gain hands-on experience, and make a real impact. Our internships are available in a variety of areas, including public health, education, business/economics, and communications. You'll work alongside our staff, receive mentorship and training, and have the chance to contribute to projects that are making a difference in the world. Public Health

As public health intern, you would work closely with the organization's public health team to support a range of initiatives, including conducting research on health issues in Nepal, analyzing data to inform program development and evaluation, and assisting with the implementation of public health programs in the field.

You may also have the opportunity to collaborate with local community members and organizations to promote health and wellness through education and outreach efforts. Additionally, you may assist with planning and executing health campaigns and events, such as medical camps and health fairs.

Our 4 Areas for Interns

Education

As an education intern, you would have the opportunity to work to improve the quality of education in Nepal. We focus on providing resources and support to students that are underserved.

As an education intern, you would work closely with the organization's education team to support a range of initiatives, including developing and delivering educational programs, designing and creating educational materials, and assisting with the implementation of education programs in the field.

Business

We rely on a sustainable business model to support our programs and operations, and as an intern, you would play a vital role in supporting this model.

As a business intern, you would work closely with the organization's business team to support a range of initiatives, including financial management, fundraising, marketing, and outreach. You may assist with developing and implementing fundraising campaigns, managing the organization's financial records, and promoting the organization's work to donors.


Communications

As a communications intern, you will work closely with our communications team to create and curate engaging content for the website, including blog posts, news updates, and social media posts. You will also assist with the organization and editing of visual media, such as photos and videos, and contribute to the development of marketing materials, such as brochures and newsletters.


Some work from our recent & current volunteers

Sarmila is supporting the Menstrual Hygiene Management program at the Oda Foundation with focus groups, pad-making workshops, and school implementations.

Lisa was in Oda for seven months supporting our clinic. Her project was a community-wide survey on public health issues and areas of focus for Oda Foundation. You can find her report here.

A day in the life of an Intern

9 am all-team morning meeting

930 am breakfast

10-1 pm Intern based on your specialization

1 pm lunch 

130-4 pm continued work on projects

4-7 pm  free time including village walks, hiking, resting on our beautiful campus, relaxing at the waterfall, and more 

7 pm dinner and staff activities including playing cards, movie nights, or just take time to yourself to relax and enjoy the night stars
